Waar kiezen we uit?

What are our options?

Starting a brand is exciting. Starting a brand with a mission behind it? Even more exciting.

Where do you even begin?

In recent weeks, we have been searching online for animal organizations ourselves. Large and small. Local and national. Organizations with a professional structure, but also foundations run on pure love and volunteers.

We read websites.
We check social media.
We feel if it’s right.

Additionally, we also use POOT.'s Instagram channel to ask for help. Because if we do this, we want to do it together.

Recently, I posted the question:
"Which animal organization deserves our support?"

We received a very kind response.

But when I reread my own words, it didn't feel right. As if support is something that needs to be earned. Whereas every organization that works for animals in need deserves support.

That's why I wanted to ask the question again, but more honestly:

"We are looking for an animal organization to collaborate with."

That felt better.

Setting up POOT. is incredibly exciting for me. New products, suppliers, taking photos, making choices. It's all new to us. But what I perhaps find even more challenging is confronting animals in need.

I am sensitive to that. Images of shelters, stories of neglect… it deeply affects me. Sometimes I wonder: can I handle that? At the same time, it doesn't feel right to look away.

I'd rather contribute. Even if it's tough. Even if it's emotional. Because if we, with POOT., can make a difference, even if it's a quarterly contribution that truly matters, then that's exactly why this brand exists.

Honestly? I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years I had six shelter dogs at home.

My boyfriend sometimes looks at me with a look like:
"Let's just start slowly..."

He probably worries about that occasionally (just kidding… a little bit 😅).

But it says something. This comes from my heart.

I hope we can make a difference and contribute to animals in need. We do this with passion and love, and we believe that with that, you can go a long way.
